Sea Smelts

Sea melts are a local, small silver-colored fish with a silvery color. Smelts are found all over the Maritimes and in the estuary of the St. Lawrence River, preferring to live in schools between two waters in lakes, estuaries or coastal marine regions. Fresh smelt is prized for its slightly sweet taste with cucumber aromas. Reaching a size of 18-20 cm smelt is an ideal fish for tasty frying! Already cleaned and emptied, the smelt is sold ready to cook.
